Winter Break Camp

Kitsap Martial Arts is excited to present a unique martial arts camp this December, open to both our current students and the public! Our camp, designed to build body awareness, balance, and control, provides an immersive experience in the world of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. Whether you’re looking to engage your child for the entire week or just a few days, our flexible registration allows for both full-week and individual day sign-ups, accommodating busy schedules and diverse interests.

Age Groups & Session Times:

  • Ages 5-10:
    • 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Focus on Taihenjutsu, Muto Dori, Dakentaijutsu with movement drills including breakfalls, rolling, leaping, and more.
  • Ages 8-14:
    • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Advanced session covering Gogyo no Kata variations and Gogyo Bukijutsu Variations with weapons training.
  • Note: Kids aged 8-10 have the option to choose either the earlier 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM session or the later 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM session based on their interest and skill level.

12:00 PM – Taihenjutsu, Muto Dori, Dakentaijutsu- We will begin our daily practice with movement drills to enhance body awareness, balance, and control. Our practice will focus on combinations of breakfalls, rolling, leaping, crawling, climbing, sword evasions, and striking (punching/kicking).

1:00 PM – Gogyo no Kata, Taijutsu Variations/Applications – From 1:00 – 1:45 PM we will practice the fundamental Gogyo no Kata (five elemental patterns) and explore unarmed variations (footwork, distance, timing, responding to different attacks, etc.) based on the principles.

2:00 PM – Gogyo Bukijutsu Variations – From 2:00 – 3:00 we will take a look at weapons-based variations of the Gogyo no Kata principles. These variations will include use of hanbo (three-foot stick), rokushakubo (six-foot stick), daito (katana / long sword), shoto (wakizashi / short sword), kusarifundo (weighted chain), shuriken (hand blade / throwing spike/star), and possibly others.
